Get Back Into Your Groove…

This is the season when everyone is hustling, bustling and stressing over getting little and not-so-little loved ones all of the goodies and treats that would really excite and temporarily satisfy them this time of year.
This is also a time where we can become exhausted, overwhelmed and burned out to the point where productivity takes a back seat. Rewind about six months to this summer. I experienced what I call “electro-magnetic frequency/oscillating magnetic field exposure” burn-out. This basically translates into me being in front of the computer for way too long and not taking time out to recharge, exercise, breath and stretch. As a result, a very serious toll was being taken against my health.
I was ready for a change, so I took the necessary steps to start a new habit of getting into gear and harmonizing my entire lifestyle with my business lifestyle. I had to find a “new groove” that my previous “groove” could mesh with nicely.
During the transition, the following emotions tried to consume me:
- anxiety (feeling the need to write, market and communicate with my subscribers more frequently)
- frustration (knowing there was much to do and seemingly not enough time or energy to get them done)
- fear (that I would drop the ball across the board and miss out on a lot of great business opportunities)
Sheesh! When I look at this list, no wonder I was burned out. I later realized that all of these emotions coupled with the desire to “feel better physically” was a huge conflict of interest. I had to do something completely different.
- First, the emotions had to be put in check and moved away from the negative end of the spectrum to a more positive vibration. That immediately made me feel better about what was taking place.
- Secondly, I had to trust and REMEMBER that All Is Well, and that everything is working out for my greater good and for the greater good of all of those I come in contact with.
- Third, I had to believe AGAIN that I was worthy of the success that I had created for myself, and to accept stepping into that greatness instead of being fearful of it.
Once I was able to bring into perspective the above and make the necessary changes, the transition didn’t feel as rough anymore, and I had found a new rhythm. Since this was something I’ve already experienced, I can now recognize first hand when it’s time to “tweak my tempo,” meaning take a look at my speed and whether or not I’m still in my groove: not going too fast, not going too slow, but just moving steadily to a beat all my own.
For you, here are some things you can consider for getting back into gear and making sure that life doesn’t overtake or overwhelm you:
- Breath (take several long, slow and deep breaths for a few seconds with your eyes closed [except when you're driving.])
- Affirm your greatness (speak life-giving and life-sustaining affirmative statements over your current state of being or current situation.)
- Smile (take a few seconds to create soothing serotonin production in the brain to naturally calm your nerves.)
- Express gratitude (be thankful and appreciative of all that is working… all that is good… and all that feels right to you in your life, and relax around everything else.
- Take a day or two to regroup (sometimes, you just need to stop, catch your breath, slow down for a couple of seconds and really take life in. Enjoy some time alone. Savor the flavor of your next meal. Spend time playing with your pet. Read more stories to your children. Go out for a walk. Sit quietly in your den in silence. Light some candles… meditate… r-e-l-a-x!)
It’s easy to get carried away and wonder where the time has gone. Instead of letting life take over, you take the lead by setting your own pace and finding your own groove. Regardless of what the world tries to demand of you, keeping yourself harmoniously in sync with your desires is going to ultimately keep you and everyone around you (who is supposed to be there–lol) happy.
