What Can I Do About These Never-Ending Negative Thoughts?

Published by Megan on Tagged Ho'oponopono, Tools & Tips

Subonscious programming really has a grip on us as a whole.  We program our minds by what we listen to, what we read, what we have been taught, what we keep being taught, what we watch, what we say, what we remember, the stories we tell… the list is endless!

In case you didn’t know this, your subconscious mind is the captain of your physical manifestations.  If you think about a glacier, what’s above water is much smaller than what’s below the surface of the water: what we can’t see.  Our subconscious mind is like that too!  It’s the larger part of the mind that governs our manifestations.

So you say, “Megan, I thought that we can consciously co-create our realities. If that’s the case, why is the subconscious more important?”

Simply because the subconscious is ALWAYS working whether you’re aware of it or not.  You know how your mind incessantly just bubbles and bubbles and bubbles with thought?  Most of them are bubbling up from the subconscious.

What do you do as a result of those thought bubbles?  You possibly entertain them.  If they are empowering, entertaining them will serve you well!  If they are disempowering, that can really hurt you in the long run.

So how can you manage your thought process if these continuous never-ending bubblings just keep happening over and over again?

Through “Thought Management™”  There are NUMEROUS methods to managing your thoughts and some can be daunting or not as appealing to some as they are to others.  A few are listed below with links to other articles or products that can help:

  • EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as “Tapping
  • Meditation: quieting the mind gently so that inspiration and wisdom can come through
  • Active Prayer: Specifically focusing your energy and attention to Source for direction and wisdom
  • Ho’oponpono: an ancient Hawaiian practice for clearing blockages and healing

These are just a few!

If you want something SIMPLE that is VERY effective and can start working today, simply do what T. Harv Ecker teaches: When a disempowering or unpleasant thought comes into your mind, simply “cancel” it, say “thank you for sharing” and then bring your thoughts back to your current activity and direction you were focused upon before getting off track with the disempowering thought.

Here’s an example of how that often times happens:

You set the intention to do some research for a business you’re interested in starting and you’re very excited about the possibility of getting it started.  However, once you start taking action, you start hearing these thoughts, “I wonder how long this is gonna take. Man, I hope it doesn’t take too long because I don’t have any money.  I really need to make some money this month because the bills are over due.  I’m so tired of not having enough money.  When is this nightmare going to be over? I can’t believe I let myself get into this mess. Man, I suck! What kind of nerve do I think I have by thinking I can do something like this.  I can’t start a business.  I’m too busy…etc….”

WHOA!!!  Can you see how the simple act of moving in the direction of possibly inspired action caused a FLOOD of disempowering thoughts to arise?  What would be different if the second thought was “canceled?”

Bringing your self back to the current thought of, “I wonder how long this is gonna take” and then moving in a more positive direction: “I’m excited about the process because I know I can do this!  I’m inspired to do this! I have what it takes!  I’m committed to doing whatever it takes while listening to inspiration! I know what inspiration sounds like and feels like! I see my goals!  I can see the finish line!  I’m focusing on the finish.  Regardless of what obstacles come my way, I can hurdle them and stay focused on the finish line! This is so wonderful!  Thank God I can do this!!!”

What a big difference when you are able to “cancel” the disempowering thought.

So, for today, challenge yourself to become more aware of what bubbles up in your head.  Again, if it’s empowering, celebrate it and build from it.  If it’s disempowering, say “Cancel! Thank you for sharing” and move back into your current focused direction.

yes, this is sooo helpful…this topic touches on one of the things I learned when I use to attend spiritual class…the “canceling” of negative thoughts as soon as they enter the mind. This takes a lot of practice and I have yet to master it but when I remember to do it, it works! And I’ve been remembering to do it a lot more as of the new year! thanks for the refreshing, very well put reminder of how important and effective the “canceling” of negative thoughts is. We are human and naturally they will try to silently and quickly creep from the subconscious into the conscious…arghh! We must be the conductors of our own thoughts…a true challenge but it can be done.
