You Never Get It Done.

Most people have a hard time delegating, or even wanting to delegate, because you have been justifying your existence through your hard work, and you equate success with struggle; you equate results with struggle. And so, you sort of wear your struggle like a badge of honor. And all of that is opposite of allowing the Well-being. The only thing that ever matters in success or achievement is your achieving the things that you want to achieve. So if you are setting standards and you’re feeling uncomfortable about the standards that you’ve set, tweak the standards back a little bit. Ratchet it back a notch. Give yourself a break. Give yourself the benefit of the doubt. Lighten up. Be easier. Go slower. Take it easy. Have more fun. Love yourself more. Laugh more. Appreciate more. All is well. You can’t get it wrong. You never get it done.”—Abraham-Hicks
Excerpted from a workshop in San Antonio, TX on Saturday, April 20th, 2002

How high is your bar? Have you created some interestingly ambitious expectations of yourself that have you feeling like you’re going to pull your hair out any day now? Are you feeling it yet? Trying to meet the benchmark that you’re holding over your head to get stuff done, when in all actually, it never all gets finished?

To do listLife involves continual want and desire, so know that whenever you set a standard, you’ll be creating yet another one to reach shortly after reaching this one if you ever get there. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for goal setting, and setting your sights high. The difference is when you let the desire to reach the standard rob you of the joy, growth and appreciation of the process of getting there. Life is the “getting there,” a never-ending phenomenon of desire and satisfaction. It’s counterproductive to let worry, fret, fear and anxiety accompany you on the journey.

Consider this…. A virtual assistant! That sounds nice! I believe I’m going to put that in my creation box for the very near future as this will be the person or persons who I will delegate my many tasks to! This may also be a great idea or “aha” for those reading this, who have skills in this area, to possibly think about becoming a virtual assistant.

Do you have great admin, book keeping, filing and other administrative abilities? If your strengths lie in any of these descriptions, you may want to consider starting your own business as a Virtual Assistant, and work from home helping busy coaches, entrepreneurs and internet marketers keep up with all of their admin stuff!

I know I went off on sort of a tangent from the Abraham-Hicks quote above, but it seemed very appropriate!

Nonetheless, the quote brings to light the fact that there will always be something to do…always a task, always a deadline (I don’t really like that word), always a to-do list and seemingly never ending “stuff.” The quote also suggests that if any of these “things” that are so “pressing” are seeming to cause us to feel stressed, over-burdened or spread too thin, then it’s time to re-evaluate what’s taking place in our lives and see what can be prioritized differently or even delegated all together.

It doesn’t say “give up” what you’re doing or even to “forget about it.” It simply advises us not to take everything so seriously and trust that all is working out in Divine timing for the greatest good of all. It also suggests not identifying with your tasks and business, as to fashion yourself as this extremely amazing and great “super-person” who can get everything done. Realistically, you’re already extraordinarily powerful even if you never lifted a finger! There’s no need to hold onto your job description or titles of power to consider yourself meaningful or worthy. Just by being here, you are…. So, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, exhale! Doesn’t that feel nice?
